Jacobean Maritime Route - Arosa and Ulla River

This historic route takes you coursing through coastal and river waters. Legend has it that the remains of de St. James the Apostle were sailed into Galicia through the Ría de Arosa and up the Ulla River to de Roman city, Iria de Flavio, (now known as Padrón).

The coasts of the Ría de Arosa boast a broad range of scenery and historic heritage. Both shores are lined with beaches, capes and coves, and studded with industrious hamlets, seafaring and fishing villages, and dotted with farming communities.

Visit to Mirador de Curota Scenic Lookout Point and Corrubedo Dunes


On the ride up to the A Curota lookout point where one of the loveliest views of the Ría de Arosa estuary awaits, you will see herds of wild horses grazing peacefully on the slopes. The Corrubedo Nature Reserve contains a broad range of habitats, home to an equally diverse variety of flora and fauna. A Ramsar Wetland an Area of Special Interest for Birds, it also has the largest moving sand dune in northwest Spain, 1 km long, 200-300 km wide and over 20 meters high.
