Visit to Santiago de Compostela Santiago de Compostela is a vision of age-old stonework nestled in the green forests of northwestern Spain, near the Galician rías or sea estuaries. Originally a neglible site of passage along a Roman Road, the early 9th century discovery of the tomb of the Apostle Saint James soon attracted throngs of pilgrims and devoted Christians. A Romanica cathedral was erected, and over the centuries, enlarged, to include additions reflecting the sober Renaissance and majestic Baroque architecture of their respective days. The cathedral set the tone for all other building, thus, the majestic, fluent continuity of granite based architectural design is echoed in Santiago´s monasteries, pilgrim hospitals, myriad churches, and homes of nobility, set off by patios and plazas where time stands still.
Jacobean Maritime Route - Arousa and Ulla River This historic route takes you coursing through coastal and river waters. Legend has it that the remains of the St. James Apostle were sailed into Galicia through the Ría de Arousa and up the Ulla River to the Roman city, Iria de Flavio, (now known as Padrón). The coasts of the Ría de Arousa boast a broad range of scenery and historic heritage. Both shores are lined with beaches, capes and coves, and studded with industrious hamlets, seafaring and fishing villages, and dotted with farming communities. Visit to Mirador de Curota Scenic Lookout Point and Corrubedo Dunes On the ride up to the A Curota lookout point where one of the loveliest views of the Ría de Arousa estuary awaits, you will see herds of wild horses grazing peacefully on the slopes. The Corrubedo Nature Reserve contains a broad range of habitats, home to an equally diverse variety of flora and fauna. A Ramsar Wetland and Area of Special Interest for Birds, it also has the largest moving sand dune in norhwest Spain, 1 km. long, 200-300 km wide and over 20 meters high. Includes
